About my personal project
My personal project was creating digital models. I decided to make models related to food that I am love with. When it comes to technology and designing in general I am not the fittest person for that, however, I wanted a little challenge. My first approach was playing around with the program for fun. After exploring, I though it be wise for me to watch some Youtube videos on how to start off. Starting with small designs such as the picture above me. It is meant to be a doughnut and it was my first ever Blender design (so don't laugh). Next I started watching videos more for pro users and it was definitely a different world which I was not ready for to say the least. Most of the time I couldn't find the same navigation tool like the videos since laptops are way different then computers. I did get use to the program after a while and knew how to actually navigate properly. My first draft designs were random objects not really having any meaning, however, still nice to conclude to this exhibition. I saw videos of people making the most astonishing models, quite jealous of them I was. A video that popped up a lot was the monkey on fire (sounds crazy doesn't it). It was odd but funny so I for sure wanted to make a model like that. It of course took me some tries and a lot of frustration but I got there proudly in the end. That was a design that made me feel proud even though it was nothing compared to the stuff that you can do on Blender. I had meetings with my advisor and she claimed that I should focus on modeling things that I like, I immediately thought of food. That topic was the best theme I could possibly choose for my design focus. Food is life and it cures everything in the world. But besides really loving food I learned how to model on a laptop which I would not ever see myself be capable of. As well as having fun with technology I learned how to think and explore by myself when being in tricky scenarios. Also being able to find solutions instead of giving up easily. How this will benefit my future I do not exactly know, however, it is still a useful skill to master I guess.
